Adams, Kunzle, Madsen Score Maiden WRL Victory for Ligier & STAK Racing with Rapscallion

Car owner Tim Adams, alongside teammates Adrian Kunzle and Kevin Madsen, secured the inaugural World Racing League (WRL) victory for Ligier in the No. 678 JS2R for STAK Racing with Rapscallion Motorsports at Thunderhill Raceway.

CRESSON, Texas — STAK Racing with Rapscallion Motorsports made the trip to the West Coast for the World Racing League’s first visit to Thunderhill Raceway, marking a new addition to the series calendar. The debut at the circuit also coincided with a revised driver lineup for the No. 678 Ligier JS2R.

With the previous driver Anik Patel, unavailable for several rounds due to scheduling conflicts, car owner Tim Adams transitioned into the No. 678 entry, joining Adrian Kunzle and Kevin Madsen. The new combination proved immediately effective, delivering a milestone victory for both the team and manufacturer.

“This one means a lot,” said Adams. “We’ve been building toward this for a long time, and after coming so close last year in Colorado, it makes this victory even sweeter. I’m incredibly proud of the team—there’s a whole incredible group behind the drivers making this possible.”

The achievement reflects the collective effort of a deeply integrated team, including key personnel from Rapscallion Motorsports, Madsen Motorsports, and a growing roster of professionals within the recently formed STAK Racing organization.

Rapscallion Motorsports Team Principal Doug Vaughan emphasized the significance of the result and the journey behind it.

Madsen, one of the drivers, who joined the program midway through last season, has played a central role in the team’s rapid ascent. While continuing to focus on his preferred roles in driver coaching, car setup, and driving, he has also contributed significantly to shaping team processes, structure, and performance standards.

“I’m so proud of everyone on the team,” said Madsen. “Tim and Ken, as car owners, really deserve this win. Without them, none of this would be possible in such a short period of time. Doug and the team at Rapscallion Motorsports have had a wild journey to get here, and I appreciate them believing in the process necessary to aim for the top step in a competitive series. We have a lot more work to do, but it’s important to celebrate this one. It’s Tim’s first-ever racing win. I’m proud of him and Adrian for putting in the proper preparation to get us to the top together.”

Adrian Kunzle has demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the season, reaching the WRL podium at every event to date. He also recently secured victory at the famed Bathurst 12 Hour alongside co-driver Madsen.

“So excited to make it to the top step of the podium against some stiff competition, especially after a second and third place earlier this season,” said Kunzle. “The team did an amazing job with the car, and the execution of strategy during the race was flawless. It was great to be back sharing the car with Tim as well.”

Following this breakthrough result, the No. 678 Ligier JS2R now holds a strong lead in the WRL GTO National Championship standings. The team will look to build on this momentum as the series heads to Road America.
